Wow! I always enjoyed fishing Edenville dam as a kid, sorry to hear.
I thought they had a second dam they could open for emergencies for a safeguard to prevent collapse. eusa_think

Just to clarify. Yes there are 2 edenville dams. Both on the south end of Wixom lake. One on the east side of M-30 and one on the west side. I am almost certain but not 100% positive that neither of these dams has had a structural failure...YET! All lot of people were freaking out in the dark last night when the alerts came across our phones. Some of the videos coming out now show water across M-30. I do know M-30 is now closed. If one of the dams in edenville have a catastrophic failure it will almost certainly push water over the dam in Sanford and set a new crazy all time high flood level in midland. I sure hope it doesn’t... but we’ll see.

Here is a drone video from this morning. The lake level is at least a couple feet higher now as M-30 is under water.

No doubt about it... the East dam (power dam) has had a breach. It’s BIG. Water is headed to Sanford. If you’re just figuring it out now from reading this post you need to watch the news.

No more fishing at Wixom lake thanks to politically motivated ignorance.

Power company that admins the dams, was forced - by Michigan AG Dana Nessel - to keep Wixom lake at dangerously high levels because she was worried about endangering mussels. Midland residents bore the brunt of Nessels profound inexperience.

The skinny: The power company wanted to lower lake levels due to predicted heavy rain. They warned the callow AG Nessel that her policy risked a catastrophic flood. But she was more concerned with saving invasive mussels, than with protecting Michigan citizens downstream from the dams.
