Minn Kota Vector Trolling Motor

Unread post by Ruler2112 » September 14th, 2019, 4:08 pm

This motor has 3x steering, so you do not need to turn the control arm as much to make the head move. Infinite speed adjustment. The boat it was on had the main engine revved up to come in without the trolling motor being pulled up one day, so it spent a short time lying on the bottom of Saginaw Bay. The lower unit bearing went bad years later, so I replaced it; rebuild kits are available for ~$8 on eBay.

Right now, the light comes on like it’s sending power to the lower unit, but the prop does not turn. This is exactly what it did before… my hunch is that the same bearing I replaced seized up in the 5 or so years it’s been hanging in my basement and all it needs is a rebuild kit put in the lower unit to be 100%, but that’s only a guess.

Regardless, the motor is simply too large for the boat I presently own, which is why it’s been in my basement for so long instead of being used. I used it a few times on my current boat & absolutely LOVE the infinite speed adjustment & 3x steering, but it's just too much in the way while trying to fish. It sold for $450 new – I’m selling in order to make room in my basement.

12 volt, 55 pound thrust. Located in Essexville. $100
