Beyond politics.

Seems every group formed in history had either good/bad or indifferent minded intensions about the affairs of the world. We all seek out others who feel the same as we do about the affairs of mankind and every long standing or devoted group feels that their way is the most beneficial to the world.

The Knights Templar started in 1119, fought the crusades because after centuries of Muslims slaughtering Christians they had had enough. The Knights Templar would provide the solution by becoming the first international standing army. The opportunity came in 1118-19, when an idealistic band of knights led by Hugues de Payens offered their services to protect pilgrims en route to the Holy Places. It eventually turned into something quit different as the power elites of the movement morphed.

Free masons started in 1717. The beliefs of Freemasonry can be boiled down to three simple concepts. Masons are taught to believe in: Brotherly love: Love for each other and for all mankind. Relief: Charity for others and mutual aid for fellow Masons. Trump recently said in one of his rally speeches, that through our loyalty to our country, we will rediscover our loyalty to each other. This is the kind of thinking I also believe in.
Not everyone will agree with, understand you, like you, appreciate your character, personality or politics. Not even a few benefiting from your knowledge and/or generosity. But stay true to your beliefs and convictions.
